How paying for Plus and Max works: prices, the free trial, renewals, cancelling and refunds. These terms are part of the Terms.
VERSION 2026-10-24 · LAST UPDATED 24 OCTOBER 2026
1. Prices
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Plus | £5.99 a month | £44.99 a year |
| Max | £12.99 a month | £109.99 a year |
These are the prices on the web, in pounds sterling. Nullshift Development Ltd isn’t registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. In the iPhone app, Apple sells the same plans for more, at the prices the App Store shows (see section 12).
If we change a price, we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then. A price change never applies to time you have already paid for.
2. Who can subscribe
You need to be 18 or over, with a UK billing address. A card from another country is fine if your billing address is in the UK. If a plan is bought with a billing address outside the UK, we cancel it and refund what was paid. Payments on the web are taken by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
3. The free trial
- Yearly plans start with 7 days free (10 days if a friend invited you, on the web). Monthly plans have no free trial.
- You give your card details at the start, and nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends, the yearly price is charged automatically, unless you have cancelled.
- We email you when the trial starts, with the date and amount of the first charge, and again 2 days before it ends.
- Cancelling during the trial ends your plan straight away. Plus or Max switches off at once, you are on Free, and nothing is charged. You can’t cancel and keep the rest of the trial. The cancel screen says this before you confirm.
- There is one free trial per person. If you have had one before, a new yearly plan is charged straight away.
4. Starting straight away
When you subscribe you ask us to start your plan straight away, by ticking a box that is never ticked for you. The law gives you 14 days from the day you subscribe to change your mind; because you asked to start at once, the law would let us charge for the days you used. We don’t: our refund rule in section 6 gives you more.
5. Renewal
Plans renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel, and the price is charged to your card on the renewal date. We send reminders so a renewal never surprises you:
- Yearly plans: an email 30 days and again 7 days before each renewal.
- Monthly plans: a reminder every 6 months.
Each reminder gives the price, the date, and how to cancel.
6. Refunds and your right to cancel
- A full refund within 14 days. Ask within 14 days of your first charge (the first monthly payment, or the yearly charge after the trial), or of a yearly renewal, and we refund it in full. Your plan then ends and you are on Free.
- Ask by writing to hello@termspring.com from the email address on your account. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within 14 days of your request.
- After those 14 days there are no partial refunds: a cancelled plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
- This doesn’t affect your rights if Termspring isn’t as described or doesn’t work as it should, or the refund promised in the Terms if we significantly reduce what your plan includes.
You don’t need a form to cancel, but you can use this one if you like, by email:
To Nullshift Development Ltd, 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA, hello@termspring.com: I give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service: Termspring [Plus or Max], ordered on [date], name, and the email address on the account, date.
7. Cancelling
Cancel in Settings › Billing › Cancel, then confirm. It takes no more steps than subscribing, and there is no offer to talk you out of it. We confirm by email.
- In the trial: the plan ends straight away, with nothing to pay (section 3).
- After the trial, or on a monthly plan: your plan stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, then you move to Free. Nothing more is charged, and you can undo the cancellation until then.
8. Changing plan
- Plus to Max: straight away. The unused part of Plus is credited and the difference is charged now. During a trial, the trial carries on and Max is charged when it ends.
- Monthly to yearly: straight away, with the unused part of the month credited. There is no trial, because you are already paying.
- Max to Plus, or yearly to monthly: at the end of the period you have paid for. Nothing is refunded for the change.
9. If a payment fails
If a renewal payment fails, we email you and show a notice in the app. Your plan carries on for 7 days while the card is tried again. After that the plan pauses and you are on Free until the payment goes through. If it still hasn’t gone through after 14 days, the subscription is cancelled. Update your card in Settings › Billing so the payment can go through; your plan comes back as soon as it does. If your bank asks for an extra check, such as 3-D Secure, we email you a link to complete it in Termspring.
10. The founding price
The first 200 people to pay for Plus on the web get it at £3.99 a month or £29.99 a year, with the same free trial on the yearly plan. You keep the founding price for as long as you stay subscribed to Plus, including if you switch between monthly and yearly. It ends if your subscription ends or you move to Max. We can stop offering it to new subscribers at any time; that never changes the price for people who already have it.
11. Inviting friends
Every account has a personal invite link and code, in Settings.
- Your friend gets a 10-day free trial instead of 7 on a yearly plan bought on the web. A monthly plan has no trial, as usual. An invite only counts for a new account that has never had a paid plan or a trial, opened from your link within 30 days or with your code typed at sign-up. If someone was invited by more than one person, the first invite counts.
- You earn one month of Max when your friend’s first payment for Plus or Max goes through. A trial on its own, the free plan, or a £0 payment earns nothing.
- If you pay for your own plan on the web, you also get a credit worth one month of it on your next bill, so the month costs nothing: £5.99 for monthly Plus or £12.99 for monthly Max, or £3.75 or £9.17 if you pay yearly. If you pay through Apple, you get the month of Max and your Apple billing doesn’t change. If you are on Free, you have Max for a month and then go back to Free.
- Rewards follow each other, so two friends who pay give you two months in a row, up to 12 months a year.
- If your friend’s first payment is refunded or disputed within 14 days, the reward is withdrawn: the month of Max ends and any unused credit is removed.
- You can’t invite yourself, including through another account, email address or card of yours, and each friend earns one reward. Credits have no cash value.
- Share your link with people you know. Don’t spam it or post it anywhere that doesn’t allow it.
- We may withdraw rewards gained by breaking these rules. We may change or end the invite scheme; rewards you have already earned are kept.
12. Buying on an iPhone
Plans bought in the iPhone app are sold and billed by Apple, at the App Store’s prices and under Apple’s terms. Apple runs the free trial (7 days on yearly plans), renewals, cancelling and refunds:
- Cancel in your iPhone’s Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. If you cancel during a trial, Apple lets it run to the end date it shows you.
- Ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- We can’t cancel or refund an Apple subscription for you, and deleting your Termspring account doesn’t stop Apple billing you, so cancel with Apple first.
Plans cost more in the app because Apple takes a commission on every App Store sale, and the higher price covers it. It is the same plan wherever you buy it: a plan bought on the web at termspring.com works in the iPhone app too, and one bought in the app works on the web. Paying through Apple is a convenience, not a different plan, and you can choose either.
An account can have one paid plan at a time. If you already pay on the web, the app won’t sell you another, and the other way round.
13. Deleting your account
Deleting your account ends a plan paid on the web straight away, trial or paid. If your first charge, or a yearly charge, was in the last 14 days, it is refunded in full. A plan paid through Apple has to be cancelled with Apple (section 12). The privacy notice says what is deleted and what payment records are kept.
14. Free plans we give
Sometimes we give Plus or Max for free, for example during the beta, through the Access scheme, or as an invite reward. Nothing is charged for it. If it was given with an end date, you move to Free on that date unless you choose to subscribe.
15. Receipts and questions
We email a receipt for every payment, and your invoices are in Settings › Billing. Write to hello@termspring.com with any question about a payment.
