Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. These are the only ones Termspring uses, and each is strictly necessary for something you asked for: staying signed in, joining through an invite, or paying safely.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Termspring | Keeps you signed in on this device. Named better-auth.session_token (with a __Secure- prefix on the live site). | 30 days, renewed while you use Termspring; removed when you sign out |
| Sign-in checks | Termspring | Short-lived cookies that protect a sign-in with Google or Apple while it is under way. | Minutes |
| Invite | Termspring | Remembers a friend’s invite code when you open their invite link, so the invite still counts if you sign up later. It holds the code and nothing else. | 30 days |
| Payment security | Stripe | Set by Stripe on the billing page only, to prevent fraud when you pay. Named __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid. | __stripe_mid 1 year, __stripe_sid 30 minutes |
On the sign-up and password reset pages, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person and not a bot. It is used only for that check.
Storage on your device
Like an app, Termspring also keeps a few things in your browser’s storage so it works well: your choice of light or dark, notes and reviews waiting to sync if you go offline, lecture text not yet sent, and your sound settings. These stay on your device, are used only by Termspring, and are needed for the features you use.
Product analytics, only if you say yes
After you sign in, Termspring asks once whether you want to share how you use it:
“Share which screens you open and which buttons you press, so we can see what helps. It’s linked to your account, held by PostHog in the EU, and never includes your notes, cards or timetable.”
Nothing is loaded or stored for analytics until you say yes. If you do, PostHog keeps an identifier in your browser’s storage so it can tell your visits apart. Switch it off in Settings at any time and that identifier is cleared. The privacy notice has the details.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block the sign-in cookie, you won’t be able to stay signed in, and without Stripe’s cookies you may not be able to pay on the web.
If we ever want to use a cookie that isn’t strictly necessary, we will ask you first and update this page. Write to hello@termspring.com with any question.
